Welcome to Healthy Family Ministries

Who we are

Healthy Family Ministries is a faith-based organization created in 2021, with the aim of empowering families spiritually, economically, emotionally, and socially to run a peaceful life and sustainable livelihoods. HFM interventions are oriented towards couples, single parents, youth,and children in the light of God’s Word. HFM is connected to Bethesda Holy Church (BHC) and the two institutions work together on different programs.

Vision

A healthy and peaceful family where members work together to enjoy their rights while also fulfilling their responsibilities considering the Word of God.

Mission

To empower families spiritually, emotionally, and socio-economically, through the Word of God and related programs for healthy marital relationships and improved life for all family members.

Objectives

  • To educate family members about their rights, roles, and responsibilities basing on the word of God.

  • To organize and deliver specialized trainings for different members of the family to prevent domestic violence and family conflicts.

  • To establish platforms for discussions and exchange about local as well as global family issues.

  • To promote early childhood development and education.

  • To provide individual and group counseling to the members of the family who are affected by family problems

  • To mobilize resources to assist the most vulnerable families in getting out of the circle of poverty.

  • To educate youth in matters related to marriage so that they make informed decisions about their future

  • To empower vulnerable women and youth through vocational training and mentorship programs for economic sustainability and self-reliance.

HFM Programs

What’s been done so far

Couple counselling, conflict resolution and mediation.

There are couples which were about to divorce but through different
sessions of counseling and mediation, their relationships have been
restored and they are now living together peacefully.
The pre-marriage training program is also established and is bearing
significant results.

Women empowerment and mentorship

Since 2020, HFM mentorship program has started. Young women join
their elders and get equipped with leadership skills and get empowered
to assist vulnerable people in Bethesda Holy Church community and
beyond (this is referred to as “Paul and Timothy Mentorship
program”).

Youth-engage and Peersupport progra

Young people (mostly teenagers) from different families have been
assisted to heal from the trauma caused by issues in their families and
their related consequences. Most of them were suffering from
depression, anxiety, drug abuse, suicidal thoughts, and other forms of
mental health problems.
Youth are now grouped in self-help groups known as ‘families’. These
families serve as platforms for group therapy, peer-support, as well as
learning from each other’s knowledge and technical skills

Healthy and Nutrition Program

Funds are mobilized every year to pay community healthy insurance
for the most vulnerable families.
Every 3 months food items are collected and distributed to the most
vulnerable families from Bethesda Holy Church community and
beyond.

Early Childhood Development and Education

The organization has got land and construction permit to build a center
for early childhood Development and Sunday school for kids to get all
necessary support as early as possible.

Institutional capacity building and strategic partnership

HFM has all necessary organs as stipulated by the law governing Faith
Based organizations in Rwanda and is engaging in partnership with
government and non-government institutions with similar aspirations.
